A man (23) has been charged with the murder a young mother in Co Carlow.
Gordon Molloy, of Ballinakill, Ballickmoyler, Co Laois appeared before Castlecomer District Court in Co Kilkenny in connection with the killing of Ciara Ní Chathmhaoil (22) on Monday last.
Ms Ní Chathmhaoil's body was found in the bathroom of the house which she rented at Ardmore Gardens in the Browns Hill area of Carlow town. Her four-year-old son, who was in the house at the time, was uninjured and is now in the care of relatives.
The court today remanded Mr Molloy in custody to Cloverhill Prison and ordered that he appear again at Cloverhill District Court next Tuesday.
