A 23-year old Co Clare man Clare has been charged in connection with the death Anne Walsh (23).
At a special sitting of Kilrush District Court today, Raymond Donovan of New Houses, Cooraclare appeared after being charged with intentionally or recklessly causing harm to Ms Walsh at Toler Street, Kilrush on Wednesday, contrary to Section 4 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
Ms Walsh's body was found in the grounds of St Senan's Church, Toler Street, in the town shortly after 11pm on Wednesday.
An application for legal aid for Mr Donovan was granted by Judge Leo Malone after Mr Donovan's solicitor, Tara Godfrey told the court that her client is in receipt of disability allowance.
Judge Malone ordered that a psychiatric examination be carried out on the accused in Limerick prison and remanded him in custody to re-appear before Ennis District Court on Monday.
