A 23-year-old man arrested in connection with the July 21 attempted bomb attacks in London was today charged under the Terrorism Act, Scotland Yard said.
Ismael Abdurahman, of Newport Street, Kennington, south east London, is the first person to be charged in connection with the terror attacks in the capital.
The charge, under Section 38 of the Terrorism Act 2000, alleges that: "Between July 23 and July 28 he had information he knew or believed may be of material assistance in securing the apprehension, prosecution or conviction of another person in the UK for an offence involving the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism."
He will appear before Bow Street Magistrates in London tomorrow.
It is understood that Abdurahman was first arrested on July 28 under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) on suspicion of harbouring an offender.
The following day, he was rearrested under the Terrorism Act.
Scotland Yard tonight also confirmed that one of the men arrested in Brighton at the weekend had now been released with no further action.
There are now a total of 14 people in custody in the UK in connection with the investigation, and one in Rome, Italy.
