A man was charged in Belfast yesterday with attempted murder arising out of a clash between rival loyalist factions in the Shankill Road area in August. Mr Thomas Potts (31), a production operator, Greenland Street, Belfast, is the sixth person to be charged in connection with the feud between the UFF and the UVF.

He was accused of attempting to murder Mr Martin Overend and other charges including having four handguns in August, a charge relating to a UFF show of strength when masked gunmen fired shots into the air.

Mr Potts was remanded in custody until December 22nd.
