A TYRONE man has been charged with the unlawful killing of Conor McCusker outside a nightclub at the weekend.

A TYRONE man has been charged with the unlawful killing of Conor McCusker outside a nightclub at the weekend.

Christopher Murphy (21), a shop worker, Tullagh Drive, Cookstown, appeared before Strabane magistrates yesterday.

Mr McCusker had been in Cookstown, Co Tyrone, on a night out with his younger brother, Derry senior footballer Niall McCusker, when he suffered serious injuries in an incident in the early hours of Sunday.

He was treated at Craigavon area hospital before being transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, where he died on Monday.

His organs have been made available for transplant.

A police officer told the court that he believed he could connect Mr Murphy with the charge.

The court heard that Mr Murphy had nothing to say when the charge was put to him. He spoke during the short hearing only to confirm his date of birth and indicated that the understood the nature of the charge.

His defence lawyer said there was no instruction to apply for bail.

Mr Murphy was remanded in custody to appear again in court in Dungannon, Co Tyrone, on May 8th.
