A 24-year-old man appeared in Dundalk District Court yesterday charged with the murder of Mr Patrick Gallagher (38), whose body was found in a house in Ardee, Co Louth, on Monday morning.
A post-mortem examination has found that Mr Gallagher died from multiple blows to the body.
The court heard that Mr Michael John Connors, unemployed, from Ferdia Park, Ardee, replied "No" when Supt Eamon Courtney formally charged him with the murder.
The murder is alleged to have been committed some time between 12.15 a.m. and 6.05 a.m. on February 7th, in Drogheda Road, Ardee.

Judge Flann Brennan granted the defendant legal aid. He was remanded in custody to appear in Drogheda District Court next Tuesday.
