MAN has been charged with the murder of a woman in Co Laois. Mr Nigel Bainbridge (28), of The Rectory, Coolrain, Mountrath, Co Laois, was charged yesterday at a special sitting of Portlaoise District Court with the murder of Patricia Bainbridge last Monday at the same address.
Sgt James Arthurs told Judge Mary Martin that he had arrested Bainbridge at 3.45 p.m. in Portlaoise yesterday. Judge Martin remanded Mr Bainbridge to Mountjoy Prison to appear in Portlaoise District Court tomorrow.
Judge Martin said that the question of free legal aid would be decided at tomorrow's court sitting and she ordered medical and psychiatric attention for the defendant.
