A 20-year-old man appeared on a murder charge yesterday before a special sitting of Carlow District Court.
Mr John Dillon, Granby Row, Carlow, who is originally from Drogheda, was charged with the murder of Mr Warren Slater at Granby Row earlier yesterday.
Det Sgt James Ryan told Judge William Earley he had charged Mr Dillon at 5.20 p.m. at Carlow Garda station. The defendant had not replied when charged.
Judge Earley granted the accused legal aid, and on the application of Supt Gerry Cadden remanded him in custody until Wednesday.
