A 33-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a Latvian national in Co Tipperary earlier this year.

Kevin Keohane, of no fixed abode, appeared before a special sitting of Limerick District Court yesterday. He is charged with the murder of Renars Tuleiko (32) at Townspark, Thurles, on unknown dates between April 13th and 15th last.

The body of Mr Tuleiko was found in a field outside Thurles on April 15th last with stab wounds.

Det Sgt James White gave evidence of arresting and charging Mr Keohane yesterday morning at Limerick courthouse.

Det Sgt White said Mr Keohane replied "not guilty" after he was cautioned about the charge.

Solicitor Deborah Kelleher asked the court that her client's family address, which appears on the charge sheet, not be published in order to protect his elderly mother.

Judge Tom O'Donnell agreed to the application and ordered the media not to disclose the accused man's home address.

He said the question of bail did not arise, as that was a matter for the High Court on a charge of murder. He remanded Mr Keohane in custody to appear before Limerick District Court on December 20th.

Mr Keohane is the second person to be charged in connection with the death of Renars Tuleiko. Last month Victoria Moverley (32), also of no fixed abode but formerly from Borrisoleigh, Co Tipperary, was charged with assault causing harm to the Latvian national. She remains in custody awaiting directions from the DPP.
