A 19-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a Limerick teenager who was stabbed to death in the city at the weekend.
Mr Keith McMahon, 108 Shanaboolly Road, Ballynanty, Limerick was charged at Limerick District Court, with the murder of 18-year-old Edward Cully at a house in Merval Crescent, Clarview yesterday morning.
Solicitor for the Mr McMahon, Mr Ted McCarthy, told the court that his client was unemployed and applied for legal aid on his behalf.
Detective Garda Jim Carmody said he charged Mr McMahon at Henry Street Garda Station last night.
Inspector Jim Browne asked Mr Justice Tom O'Donnell to remand the accused in custody until later this week.
Mr Justice O'Donnell agreed and said given the nature of the charge, the question of bail was a matter for the High Court. Mr McMahon was remanded in custody until Thursday February 13th next when he will re-appear before Limerick District Court.
