British police have charged a man this evening with murdering two officers who were killed in a car crash.

The police officers, Police Constables Bryan Moore, 39, and Andrew Munn, 37, died after their stationary marked car was involved in a collision with a white transit van on the A42 road in Leicestershire, central England, in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Leicestershire Police said the 38-year-old driver from Birmingham had now been charged with their murder. He will appear at Loughborough Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

The Police Complaints Authority, which has been called in to investigate the incident, said in a statement that officers from West Midlands police had earlier tried to stop the van.
