A MAN has been remanded in custody charged with murder following a stabbing incident in Nenagh, Co Tipperary, in the early hours of St Stephen's Day.
Egidijus Kiaulakis (28), from Lithuania, was yesterday remanded in custody to Limerick Prison to appear at a sitting of Nenagh District Court on January 23rd.
Gintaras Brazauskas (29), Summerhill, Nenagh, died following an altercation in Summerhill. Mr Brazauskas worked as a boner at the local AIBP meat factory.
Nenagh-based Supt Bob Noonan sought to have Mr Kiaulakis remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison but his solicitor, Tony O'Malley, objected.
He said it would be extremely difficult for his client's partner to visit Cloverhill and also that it would make matters extremely difficult if he had to prepare his client's defence should Mr Kiaulakis be remanded to Cloverhill.
