A MAN charged with raping and murdering civil servant Ms Marilyn Rynn last Christmas was granted bail when he appeared before the High Court in Dublin yesterday.
Mr David Lawlor (32), of Edgewood Lawn, Blanchardstown, Dublin, is charged with killing Ms Rynn and raping her at Tolka Valley Park, Blanchardstown, as she returned from her office Christmas party on December 22nd.
At the High Court yesterday, Mr Lawlor said if granted bail he would undertake to reside with his parents at their home in Bawnogues, Baltinglass, Co Wicklow.
He told the court he did not have a passport and he would not apply for one while on bail. He also undertook to sign on daily at Baltinglass Garda station for the duration of his bail bond.
Judge Peter Kelly granted Mr Lawlor bail in his own bond of £1,000 with an independent surety of £10,000. He approved the defendant's brother, Mr Gerard Lawlor, as independent bails man for him.
Earlier in the Dublin District Court, Mr Lawlor had been remanded for a week by Judge Murrough Connellan, who was informed by a solicitor, Ms Yvonne Bambury, that a bail application was being made in the High Court.
Judge Connellan was also told that the State would be seeking a longer remand at Mr Lawlor's next hearing, as the file on the case would take some time to complete before a book of evidence would be served against the defendant.
Judge Connellan remanded Mr Lawlor to appear again before the court on August 20th next.
