A man charged in connection with the stabbing of a busker in Dublin's Temple Bar was remanded in custody yesterday.

Stewart Murphy (30) was charged with assault, causing harm, and with possession of a knife at Temple Bar Square on Thursday.

Dublin District Court heard that he was arrested at the square and taken to Pearse Street Garda station where, after he was charged, he made no reply.

Garda Sheila White asked that he be remanded in custody as he did not have an address and as his mother had said he was not welcome at the family home in Kilmahuddrick Lawns, Clondalkin, Dublin.

Judge Bryan Smyth remanded him in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court on Tuesday.
