BAIL was again refused in the case of a Roscommon man who appeared at Athlone District Court yesterday charged with stealing almost £23,000 from a number of homes belonging to the elderly in the area over the past year.

Mr Aidan Fallon (25), Rinnegan, Lecarrow, Co Roscommon, is charged with five counts of entering a number of homes in the south Roscommon area and stealing a total of £22,639 in four of the incidents. The defendant was charged at a special sitting of Athlone Court on Saturday last and was remanded in custody to yesterday's sitting of the court.

Refusing bail, Judge James O'Sullivan remarked that the case was unusual with unusual circumstances. He remanded the defendant in custody to Athlone Court on November 12th next.
