Mr William Gilligan (43), of Harelawn Park, Clondalkin, appeared in Kilmainham District Court yesterday on charges of threatening to kill a 14-year-old girl and of assaulting her with a baseball bat at Greenfort Close on May 20th, 1998. She suffered a fractured arm as a result.
Det-Sgt Fergal Foley asked for the defendant to be remanded in custody because of threats to the victim. He said he was investigating allegations of an orchestrated campaign of intimidation and threats. He said three people had come to Ronanstown Garda station that morning and made allegations about money paid at Mr Gilligan's instigation for the injured party not to come to court.
Mr Damien Colgan said the girl had decided to withdraw after taking legal advice.
Mr Gilligan was remanded in custody to February 11th.
