Birmingham - An unemployed laboratory technician walked free from court last night after being acquitted of killing his former partner who died after swallowing concentrated sulphuric acid.

Mr Andrew Gardner (40) had denied murdering 27-yearold Dr Karenina Longe by giving her drain-cleaning fluid at the home they had shared in Birmingham, on February 5th this year. After a jury's verdict was announced Dr Longe's mother shouted: "There's no justice."
