A 32-year-old Cork man has been found not guilty by a Central Criminal Court jury of attempted rape but guilty of sexual assault of a married woman. He was also found not guilty earlier by direction of Mr Justice Finnegan on a charge of attempted buggery and an additional count of sexual assault. The charges arose from an incident in the defendant's home in Cork city on October 19th, 1998. Mr Justice Finnegan remanded him on continuing bail for sentence on February 16th and ordered the preparation of reports.
