Man critically injured in North Dublin shooting

A MAN was shot and critically injured in Finglas, north Dublin late last night.

The incident happened close to the scene of another shooting which occurred on Monday night.

The latest shooting took place in Kippure Park at around 11.20pm.

The man was understood to have been shot in the head.

He was taken to the James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown.

Late last night he remained in the hospital's Accident and Emergency department. Staff at the hospital said he was on life support.

Meanwhile, the man who was shot in Finglas on Monday nigh also remained in the James Connolly Memorial Hospital last night.

His condition was described as stable.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate Monday night's incident which took place in Berryfield Drive, some 2-300 yards from Kippure Park.

The man, who is in his twenties, was shot in the arm by a gunman shortly before 7.30pm.

Gardaí yesterday said a detailed description of the gunman was not available.

However, witnesses said that he was wearing a balaclava.

A Garda spokesman last night said he could not say if the two shootings incidents in Finglas were related.

Another shooting inciden took place in south west Dublin last night. A shot was fired at a house in Clondalkin.

A Garda spokesman said gardaí were called to the scene of the incident at St John's Drive shortly before 8pm.

The spokesman confirmed that no-one was hurt in the incident.
