A man has died following a shooting on the South Circular Road in Dublin tonight.

A man has died following a shooting on the South Circular Road in Dublin tonight.

The incident occurred at about 8pm near Griffith College.

The victim, who was in his 30s, sustained a number of wounds. He was taken from the scene to St James's Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified, a Garda spokesman said.

He said "a dark car" was seen leaving the scene of the shooting and "a dark car was later found on fire" on O'Curry Avenue, a short distance from the scene.
