Politicians have called for extra police to be drafted into a Co Antrim seaside town following the latest in a series of killings outside its pubs and nightclubs.

Mr Brian Caskey (24), a hotel barman, died in a fight outside the Bed nightclub in Station Square in Portrush early yesterday. It followed an apparent falling-out among friends who had been drinking together until 1.30 a.m. The fight took place around 15 minutes later.

A 23-year-old man is being questioned by detectives, and police are studying film from a CCTV camera which captured the incident.

Mr Caskey was repeatedly punched in the face during the fight. He was dead on arrival at hospital. He lived in Coleraine.
