A man in his 50s has died in a house fire in Co Armagh, writes Dan Keenan. He was rescued alive from the fire on Tuesday but died at the scene.
Firefighters were called to a house on College Square West in Bessbrook before 10pm on St Stephen's Day. They found a bedroom alight and the upstairs of the mid-terrace house filled with smoke.
Alan Fulford, of the fire and rescue service in Portadown, Co Armagh, said: "It looks like there were candles alight in the bedroom and they set fire to coats hanging on the back of the bedroom door. The man had gone upstairs to fight the fire but was overcome by the smoke."
