A patient in a nursing home in Foynes, Co Limerick, died in a fire last Sunday night. He was Mr Anthony O'Doherty (71), originally from Beechwood Gardens, Newcastle West. According to a fire service spokesman, Mr O'Doherty was sitting on a chair and a blanket over him went on fire. He died in Limerick Regional Hospital.
