Two separate investigations have been initiated following the death of a Co Galway man at a quarry in Ballintra yesterday morning.

Noel Heaney (32), Bohermore, Co Galway, was working alone at the Roadstone Provinces quarry at Ballymagroarty, Ballintra, when it is believed he became entangled in a machine used to crush stone.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) confirmed it had been notified of the incident and would be carrying out an investigation.

Roadstone Provinces stated it would be co-operating fully with the HSA and would be carrying out its own separate investigation.
