A 42-year-old man died in the early hours this morning after his car collided with a horse on the N25 Cork to Waterford Road at Ballyduff East, Kilmeaden

The incident happened at about 1.50am this morning. The man was the sole occupant of the car. He was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The horse died at the scene.

Gardaí in Tramore are investigating the circumstances of a fatal single vehicle
road traffic collision on the 25th April 2011.

The road is closed to allow a forensic examination to take place. Diversions are in place. Witnesses are asked to contact gardaí in Tramore on 051 391620, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
