A man in his 20s has drowned while swimming in a lake in Co Cavan last night.
The 26-year-old was swimming at Knocknagarton, Virginia, at about 10pm when he got into difficulty and was taken from the water by friends.
He was taken by ambulance to Cavan General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A postmortem examination will be carried out today.
