Police in west Belfast say a man escaped serious injury after a petrol bomb was thrown through the bedroom window of his home early this morning.

The incident occurred at Erris Grove shortly before 3am, a PSNI spokeswoman said.

One device was thrown through the window and the man was in the bedroom at the time but managed to extinguish the blaze himself.

He suffered minor cuts and bruises from breaking glass, the spokeswoman said.
