A 43-year-old man was yesterday charged at a special sitting of Cobh District Court with threatening to kill the owner of a taxi business in the town in Co Cork.

Mr Willie Crowley, from Velvethouse Cross, Cobh, was charged with threatening to kill Mr John Lawlor at West Beach, Cobh, on May 29th, 1999, intending Mr Lawlor to believe the threat would be carried out.

Judge Con O'Leary remanded Mr Crowley on his own bail of £300 to appear again at Blarney District Court on Tuesday and ordered him to sign on daily at Cobh Garda station.
