A man who fled the United States four years ago after being charged in a road traffic collision that killed three people has been arrested in Dublin.

Frederick Russell (27) was arrested by gardaí at a shop in the Henry Street area of Dublin on Sunday.

It is believed he was working as a security guard under the name David Carroll at the time of his arrest.

According to US Marshal Michael Kline, Mr Russell was found shortly after he was placed on the Marshal Service Agency's 15 most-wanted list last January.

He was charged in 2001 with vehicular homicide and vehicular assault, and a test showed his blood-alcohol content was 0.12 per cent higher than the legal limit.

An extradition warrant was served on Friday, and his case is due for mention in the High Court next Tuesday.
