Man for court over 2007 drug haul

A man is to appear in court today in connection with drugs and arms seizures in Dublin nearly two years ago.

A man is to appear in court today in connection with drugs and arms seizures in Dublin nearly two years ago.

Gardaí in Pearse St investigating the seizure of firearms, ammunition and drugs worth over €560,000 at a warehouse and houses in south and west Dublin in October 2007 arrested the man in his 20s this morning.

The man has been charged in relation to the incident and will appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court later today.

The warehouse, at the Hillcrest Business Park, Greenhills Road, Walkinstown, is thought to have been a cocaine preparation factory.

Gardaí seized vacuuming machines, pressing equipment and firearms, as well as hundreds of rounds of ammunition and half a million euros worth of cocaine. They also searched a house in Oakway, Clondalkin where they recovered a 9mm automatic Glock pistol and a small amount of cocaine.

Gardaí said the searches were part of an ongoing operation targeting gangland crime.
