A man is due before court in Dublin this morning following the seizure by gardaí of some €120,000 of cannabis across three coutnries at the weekend.
The drugs were seized by gardaí from the Garda National Drugs Unit, the Garda Organised Crime Unit and local detectives.
The drugs were seized during searches in the Dunboyne, Co.Meath, Huntstown in Dublin 15, and at Athlone Co Westmeath.
Gardai stopped and searched a car at Main Street, Dunboyne shortly after 2pm on Saturday. Three
kilos of what is believed to be cannabis herb were discovered. A further two kilos of the drug were found during a follow up search, at a premises in Dunboyne.
Gardai then searched a house in Huntstown, Dublin 15, where they recovered 5 kgs of the drug. A further 1 kg was found following a search of a house in Athlone.
Four men were arrested and were detained at Blanchardstown and Finglas Garda stations under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act. Two of the men were released without charge and another remains at Blanchardstown Garda Station. A file will be prepared and forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
