A man is due to appear in court tomorrow morning in connection with a shooting in the Co Mayo town of Balla earlier this week.
The shooting occurred at about 6.30pm on Tuesday on the Costcutter premises on Main Street in the town. A middle-aged woman sustained serious leg injuries and was taken to Mayo General Hospital.
Gardaí arrested a man in the vicinity of Balla shortly after 8pm that evening. A 47-year-old man will appear before Ballina District Ct at 10.30am tomorrow morning.
Balla, which has a population of about 600, is located on the N60, about halfway between Castlebar and Claremorris.
