A man charged with stealing £750,000 worth of jewellery during a break-in at the Brazilian ambassador's residence in Dublin was granted bail at Dublin District Court yesterday. Ian Merriman (23), Windmill Road, Crumlin, Dublin, was charged with burglary at the house in Dartry on December 4th last. Jewellery worth around £750,000 was later recovered. Judge William Early set Merriman's bail at £1,500 with an independent surety of £3,000, on condition that he signs on daily at Crumlin Garda station. Judge Early remanded him in custody, with consent to bail, to September 13th.
