A 42-year-old Dutch national has been arrested following the seizure of 1450kgs of cannabis resin with a street value of €10 million in Co Wexford.
The discovery was made by Customs officers at Rosslare Europort during a search of a Dutch-registered refrigerated articulated truck.
The cannabis was found after a Customs and Excise sniffer dog, Dillon, alerted his handler that the vehicle contained drugs.
An extensive search of the truck uncovered an elaborate concealment in a false floor of the trailer. Cutting equipment had to be used to get to the drugs which were hidden underneath a steel plated floor, which was covered with a wooden floor, a statement from Revenue said.
The truck, which arrived on the car-ferry from the Netherlands via the UK, contained a load of potted plants addressed to a business in Cork.
A Dutch national was arrested under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. He is currently being held at Wexford Garda station.
