A man is in custody in Co Meath today after the third major drug operation in Co Meath of the bank holiday weekend.

A man is in custody in Co Meath today after the third major drug operation in Co Meath of the bank holiday weekend.

The man was detained after an overnight operation led to the seizure of what gardaí are calling a "drugs factory".

Paraphernalia for mixing drugs including a compressor were found in the near Navan.

It followed the arrest of a Navan man on Saturday when a garage near Athboy was raided and drug -making equipment and 5kg of cocaine was recovered. Two other men were arrested in the operation.

Six handguns, two rifles, a pump action shotgun, ammunition and balaclavas were discovered in a follow up operation.

Five men will appear at Dunshaughlin District Court this evening in relation to the seizures.

Also on Saturday, two men were arrested after €1.4 million worth of cannabis, cocaine and heroin was seized in nearby Trim.

The men arrested were from Dublin.
