A 30-year-old man will appear at Carlow District Court this morning charged in connection with the death of a 26year-old woman whose body was found in the Slieve Bloom mountains, Co Laois, early yesterday. The body of Ms Susan Prakash, from Mountrath in Laois, a mother of two, was found by gardai shortly before 1 a.m. yesterday in a picnic area near Mountrath. She had been badly beaten. Gardai found the body after a 30-year-old man contacted them.

A man was subsequently arrested and detained for questioning at Portlaoise Garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. Under that section of the Act a person can be held for up to 12 hours for questioning.

Gardai are not seeking anyone else in connection with Ms Prakash's killing.

Ms Prakash lived with her mother in Mountrath, but her children live elsewhere.
