A MAN was being questioned by gardaí last night in connection with a gun attack in January in which the well-known Dublin criminal Martin Foley was wounded.
Mr Foley, known as "the Viper", was wounded several times in the upper body as he drove his car out of a gym in Kimmage, south Dublin. The 55-year-old survived the attack and called out the name of his attacker at the scene.
Gardaí are following a definite line of inquiry.
Yesterday they arrested a man at a house in Ballyfermot at 7am. The man, who is in his 20s, was taken to Crumlin Garda station for questioning.
He was detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, meaning he can be held for up to 72 hours without charge.
The arrested man is not the chief suspect in the case.
However, gardaí believe he is closely associated with the suspect and may have information that could help them solve the crime.
