Man held in connection with Kerry murders

A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of a father and son in north Kerry earlier this week.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of a father and son in north Kerry earlier this week.

The man was detained in Tralee yesterday evening and  is being held at Listowel Garda Station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

The bodies of Michael Hanrahan (54) and his son Denis (27), were found at about 9am on Thursday morning by a workmate of Denis's in a bedroom of their bungalow at the end of a cul-de-sac about a mile from Moyvane village near Listowel.

On Friday gardaí launched a full murder inquiry into the deaths after postmortem examinations by assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margaret Bolster, confirmed that both men suffered a number of gunshot wounds.
