Man held on 1975 NI murder

A man has been arrested over a murder in west Belfast in 1975.

A man has been arrested over a murder in west Belfast in 1975.

Paul Crawford (25) was shot dead on the Falls Road during a feud between the INLA and the Official IRA.

The suspect (54) was arrested in west Belfast this morning and taken to Antrim police station for questioning.

The PSNI Serious Crime Branch is reinvestigating the murder after information was forwarded by the Historical Enquiries Team.

Mr Crawford, a Catholic and official republican activist, was shot on the junction of the Falls Road and Springfield Road outside Beagan‘s Bar as he sold copies of the United Irishman newspaper.
