Gardai arrested a man in Dublin last night as a large group of anti-drug protesters gathered to march on his home. The man is alleged to have led a gang which attacked members of an anti-drug group in Ballybough, in the north inner city, 0 Monday night.

The attack took place near Poplar Row, when the gang set upon the anti-drug group using clubs and baseball bats. One man was later treated for serious injuries to his arm.

The anti-drug group believes two families from Sheriff Street took part in the attack. As activists started to march on their homes they were told that, the alleged ringleader had been arrested by gardai. About 300 people took part in the march.
