A man has been arrested by gardaí investigating a bank robbery in Dublin this afternoon.
The man, who gardaí believe was armed with a handgun, entered the Bank of Ireland on Main Street, Blackrock at about 3.50pm and threatened staff and customers.
He took an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be in the region of €6,000, and fled the scene.
No shots were fired and nobody was injured during the incident.
Investigating Gardaí stopped a taxi on the Merrion Road a short time later and arrested a 51-year-old man, who was travelling as a passenger, in connection with the incident.
He is detained at Blackrock Garda Station under Section 30 Offences against the State act 1939.
