A man being questioned by Gardaí investigating the gangland murder of Noel Roche (27) in Clontarf, Dublin, on Tuesday night has been released without charge.

The man, believed to be the driver of the dark Ford Mondeo car in which Mr Roche was travelling when he was shot dead by passing assailants, was released from Raheny Garda Station at around 3.45pm this afternoon.

Yesterday, detectives were granted an additional 24 hours to question the man under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Dublin District Court yesterday.

The court was told that in nearly 11 hours of questioning, the detainee had refused to answer a single question.

The 32-year-old man was arrested by detectives in Dublin's city centre on Friday and had to be either released or charged by 4pm today.
