A man arrested in connection with a €40,000 drug seizure in Co Cork yesterday has been released without charge.

A man arrested in connection with a €40,000 drug seizure in Co Cork yesterday has been released without charge.

Detectives from Blarney uncovered the drugs when they found a cannabis growhouse in a rented cottage in Tower at about 9pm last night.

Gardai recovered 50 cannabis plants at various stages of maturity with a potential value on harvesting of €40,000. They also seized heating and lighting equipment.

An Irishman in his late 40s was arrested under drug trafficking legislation and taken to Gurranebraher Garda station for questioning about the growhouse.

He was released without charge at about 3am this morning and gardaí will now prepare a file on the matter for the DPP, said a Garda spokesman.
