Gardai are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman in Laytown, Co Meath, last night, writes Elaine Keogh.

The woman, who was in her 30s and was the mother of one child, lived in the Sea View estate in the town. The cause of death appeared to be stab wounds.

It is believed that the gardai in Laytown were contacted shortly after 9 p.m. by neighbours of the woman, who reported an argument involving the woman and a man.

A man was helping gardai with their inquiries late last night.
