A man has been arrested after an incident in Co Clare last night in which two men and a young woman were injured. One of the men is said to be in a critical condition.
The injured men, both Lithuanian nationals, are being treated in hospital following the attack at the rear of a restaurant in Tullyvarraga, Shannon, at about 12.30 this morning.
Gardai were alerted when a Lithuanian man turned up at Shannon Garda Station, bleeding from stab wounds. Officers went to a house in Shannon and found another Lithuanian man with serious injuries.
They also found a local girl with head injuries at a second house in Shannon.
A 19-year-old man was arrested at 2.15am at this house in connection with the incident.
The man, who is from the Shannon area, had failed to appear at Shannon District Court yesterday in connection with another matter and a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
A Garda spokeswoman said he was being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The two men and the girl were taken to Limerick Regional Hospital for treatment. One of the men is believed to be in a critical condition.
