Man hurt in Waterford assault dies

A man who was seriously injured in an assault that took place in a park in Waterford just under two weeks ago, died today.

A man who was seriously injured in an assault that took place in a park in Waterford just under two weeks ago, died today.

Damien Organ (25) from William Street in the city had been on a life-support machine in intensive care at Waterford Regional Hospital since the attack.

He was pronounced dead at about 5pm this evening. A postmortem has been scheduled for tomorrow.

Both Damien and his brother Liam (27) were assaulted in a secluded area of the People's Park at about 11.40pm on Sunday 21st March.

Two men were charged with the assault on the dead man last week and were granted bail. The men are expected to appear in court again on April 13th and April 26th respectively.
