A man appeared in court in Derry yesterday charged with the armed abduction of a debt collector.
Mr William Thomas Gamble (37), an industrial cleaner from Edenmore Road, Limavady, is charged with assaulting and abducting Mr Anthony McKay and with making an unwarranted demand of money with menaces from him.
The defendant was further charged with possession of a firearm with intent to commit blackmail. The offences are alleged to have occurred last Friday and the defendant, who replied "definitely not guilty" when charged, was remanded in custody until October 4th.
