A 19-year-old man appeared in court in Limerick today on a serious assault charge.

A 19-year-old man appeared in court in Limerick today on a serious assault charge.

John O'Loughlin, of no fixed address, was charged with assault causing harm to a 16-year-old at the Carrig Midhe estate, Corbally, on the night of May 10th.

He had been arrested and questioned by gardaí on Monday in relation to the death of Ukrainian student Roman Vysochan (16), who was stabbed and killed in a fight in Co Clare last Saturday.

At Limerick District Court, Judge Tom O'Donnell granted Mr O'Loughlin bail on his own surety of €250 and an independent cash surety of €2,500.

But the judge remanded the accused in custody until May 21st until futher bail conditions are met.

The 16-year-old victim was stabbed in the fight in which Mr Vysochan died.
