A 34-year-old man will appear before the Dublin District Court this morning to face charges relating to a hit-and-run incident which resulted in the injury of a garda.

The incident happened in Blanchardstown at around 6.30pm yesterday evening when a garda on foot patrol attempted to stop a car.

The garda was knocked down and the car involved continued to drive in the direction of the N3.

Garda mobile units were alerted and a short time later the car was stopped on the M50 near the Finglas Junction. The man was arrested and taken to Blanchardstown Garda Station.

He is expected to be charged with several motoring offences when he appears before the District Court this morning.

The Garda was treated for his injuries at the Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.
