A man accused of killing a teenage girl who disappeared eight years ago in Donegal had to be shielded by police from angry relatives as he appeared in court today.
Mr Robert Howard (58) whose address was given as c/o Belmarsh Prison in south London, is charged with murdering 15-year-old Arlene Arkinson.
The schoolgirl, from Castlederg, Co Tyrone, vanished after going to a disco in Bundoran, across the border in Donegal.
Mr Howard, who denies the charge, was remanded in custody until June 18th after appearing at Enniskillen Magistrates Court in Co Fermanagh.
Earlier, police were forced to stand between him and Arlene's relatives as he entered the dock.
A detective told the court how Howard had been questioned in September 1994 following her disappearance but later released.
Howard, who is originally from the Republic, was brought back to Northern Ireland earlier this week.
